That’s because although “Meridian” is available on the streaming service worldwide, it was made not for Netflix’s 83 million subscribers, but for algorithms and their programmers. Director Curtis Clark likely had artistic reasons for adding the film’s strange effects. But those elements are primarily there because they tend to trip up video codecs, or software that compresses and decompresses digital video, and other elements of the streaming pipeline.

Hořký příběh o lidech kolem cirkusu a nešťastné lásce mladého akrobata. Hlavní postavou příběhu je mladý jezdec-akrobat cirkusu National Vincek Bonžur, který se zamiloval do krasojezdkyně Niny Gruzie, což se ovšem vůbec nelíbí jejímu otci Lotyšovi, jenž má s dívkou zcela jiné plány. Dřív než se spor vyhrotí natolik, aby podle starého klauna skončil Vincek s kudlou v zádech a Lotyš v base, zasáhne osud a mladý akrobat je povolán na vojnu, kde slouží u dragounů. Když odslouží a je propuštěn do civilu, vydá se hledat National se svou milovanou Ninou. Ta už však u cirkusu téměř celý rok není. Rodiče ji odvezli a Vincek se k lítosti svých přátel i principála rozhodne, že se ji vydá hledat. Po dlouhém putování sice svou milovanou objeví v ruském cirkuse Kuzněckého, ta se však za léta odloučení velmi změnila. Z prosté zamilované dívky se stala vypočítavá ctižádostivá žena, která touží především po penězích. Jenže ty Vincek nemá.
