Oma kolmandal aastal Sigatüüka Nõiduse ja Võlukunsti Koolis tuleb Harryl, Hermione'l ja Ronil vastu astuda võlurite vanglast pagenud vangile, Sirius Blackile. Sirius Black pandi 12 aastat tagasi Azkabani kui Lord Voldemorti parem käsi. Nüüd arvatakse, et Black kavatseb Harry Sigatüükas kätte saada ja ta tappa.
