其中第一话《交错的时空》由望月望月智充，第二话《迷宫物件FILE538》由押井守监督，主题是时间和迷宫的无限循环。 《迷宫物件》是日本动画大师押井守的早期作品集。迷宫物件是一部实验性质很重的作品。这点不但可以从其内容看出，更反映在这部动画的制作方式。基本上本片大部分的画面都是静止的，完全靠著声优千叶繁的独白来带领观众——这点跟天使之卵是完全相反。更值得注意的是，大部分的静止画面根本就是拿照片经过高反差处理后再涂色而成。所以有人看完戏说：原来用幻灯片就可以拍成动画啊。这种颠覆动画制作的方式在之后被庵野秀明发扬光大，无论是从EVA中开始出现写实照片，到男女翘翘版的完全废弃赛璐络片的演出都可以看出。
