1950~60년대 담배회사는 흡연의 위험성을 알고 있었으나 부정으로 일관했다. 대중이 담배 문제를 인식하기 시작하자 담배 회사들은 전략을 취했다. 기업의 후원을 받는 극소수 과학자들이 과학계의 지배적인 견해에 의혹을 제기하고, 과학적 근거가 결여된 업계의 주장을 포장하여 언론을 통해 여전히 논쟁 중인 사안처럼 보이게 한 것이다. 오늘날 지구 온난화 논쟁에서도 담배 논쟁과 동일한 수법이 쓰이고 있으며, 기업의 용병 역할을 하는 과학자들 역시 동일한 인물이다. 담배 회사를 위해 일했던 저명한 과학자 프레더릭 싱어와 프레드 사이츠는 지구 온난화의 위험성을 주장하는 과학자들 공격에 앞장섰다. 반공주의 자들이자 자유시장주의자인 이들은 시장에 대한 정부의 모든 규제에 반대했으며, 냉전 이후 환경주의자들을 새로운 적으로 상정했다. 대다수 과학자들은 지구 온난화를 과학적 사실로 인정하며, 인간의 활동에 의한 것임이 밝혀졌다고 결론 내리고 있지만, 이들의 활약으로 인해 과학계에서 여전히 논쟁 중인 이슈처럼 여겨지는 것이다.

Three screens display how the day’s light passes by: from the early morning light until late at night. Along with the woman the artist walks through the forest, in the same rhythm, the same pace. Off-screen she looks through the camera, fragmenting time. Through the seven “wandering” characters that we follow at different ages, from birth to old age, we witness their dignified struggle for survival. At the cemetery, in an abandoned factory, in an asylum, in a landfill, in places full of sorrow, our heroes search for love and togetherness. By combining documentary material, animation and acting interpretation of the thoughts of our heroes, we get to know lives between disappointment and hope, quite similar to ours.
