This provocative short film explores women's power, force and passion through an enigmatic series of images, erotic performances and tableaux vivant. Beautifully shot, it references as well as recreates a trajectory of images of women throughout history. Moving from the slow, thoughtful effect of allegorical painting to the fast paced impact of MTV, Yoni plays with the structures of stylization, narrative and montage. There is a poetic and lyrical feel to this film's investigation of representing the feminine and it manages to explore both the chains that bind as well as the threads that connect women --across time, culture and history.

The dystopian androgynous fashion of textile artist Sophie Lenglachner is interpreted by Jan Kollenbach, contemporary dancer, playing with the dynamics of the oscillation between darkness and light. The textile as a canvas leaves its state of inanimate object to conquer a ruined industrial landscape.

Experimental short directed by Thomas Werner

My Body, My Rules, and Them” is an exploration of the queer body’s struggle to attain validation and evade exploitation. In a society where queer identities have always struggled to be recognized, our bodies have often been a medium of our expression and avenue for satisfaction. However, we, as a community, have subjected ourselves as victims to a system that exploits our vulnerabilities and bodies, to the point of moral decay.

The author's documentary film gets to the heart of the mother-son relationship with the help of interviews and family pictures. Peter Alexander, interviewed in Sydney, born and brought up as Mavis Higgins in New Zealand, speaks of his sex change from female to male. He discusses the aspects of his personality when younger which influenced his decision, his view of women in society and his plans for the future. Although Peter talks about shaving it is not clear if any medical intervention had assisted his sex change. The predominant voice in this clip is that of Alexander, dressed in jacket and tie, talking cheerily about his interest in sport, his awareness that his "male side and personality" were always dominant, his desire to marry and continue with his musical career. The story was sensationalised in the tabloid newspaper of the day "The Truth".

This was edited by myself for Level 6 student Louise Bann, who is studying history of art & museum studies. She is creating an exhibition called THE RAVE ARCHIVES. The exhibition is about the culture surrounding rave music. This Audio-Visual piece is 'Lost Media' - an old VHS tape lying around to be found once again by its owner, who is now able to relive days long gone from when they were involved in the rave scene in the 90's. The footage showcases the underground scene that celebrated youth culture and acceptance, but still has a sinister edge to it that the rave scene will always be associated with due to the heavy use of drugs. The owner and the viewer are disrupted as the footage cuts out, only for the footage to play on a loop once again, similar to the nature of raves themselves.
